SINGLE FAMILY HOUSE

Schaerbeek, Brussels - BA1 (2013).

This project takes place in Schaerbeek, on an inclined land in front of the train rails. The land is divised in six plots used by six couples of students, so the twelve students should first of all agree for a common urbanisme for the land.
With my group, we decided not to join the couples of houses from the vertical plan but from the horizontal one. Then, every couple of house won't have a couple of ateliers, but a common one at the ground floor. This way, it was possible to make a path between the houses, and their public big garden, to visit the different ateliers.
To get then into the personnal project, the hardest challange was to work in a very close collaboration with the parcel partner, since the contact between the houses is mostly horizontal, every change on a project implicates for the other project to change too.
It has been a really interesting project to work on, it allowed us to explore, to slot and shift the volumes, to discover different views, terraces, and combination of levels. The horizontal contact also allowed us to explore the four facades, to play with the freedom of the views and the light for every single space of the house, according with the partner.
