The Citroen museum is a big project in Brussels, that is currently the object of a contest for the transformation of the ancient garage in the new Belgian's Pampidou museum.
The project me and my partner proposed, is developed around a first will that is to curb the gentrification of the neighborhood by mixing in the program the questions about the museum as an international symbol, with the questions of the physical place as part of a local scale.
Half of the project is therefore dedicated to the artisanal formation that aims primarily the local population, and their integration in this new context between art and craft, that takes in charge all the process from the formation, the exchange of material, until the production and the sale.
In parallel, a discourse of tensioning between art and craft is also developed, based principaly on the analysis of two books: "The work of art in the age of industry" (Walter Benjamin, 1935) and "Tintin et l'oreille cassée" (Hergé, 1935). The objective becomes to create the encounter of the two really different worlds, and to question about each through the confrontation that we propose.
Finally, in the practice of spatialization, it has been important to transform the space under the expression of the recycling, the patrimony, and the enhancement of the historical patrimony and his "aura", but also always considering that every change of program needs an architecture that is adapted to his new fonctions.
