VENICE'S MIRROR
Venice - MA2 (2017)
In the atelier "architecture and anthropology", it is asked to conceive a project in Venice, that produce a questioning about the Venice of tomorrow.
My project wish to question the mass tourism, through a "mise-en-scène" in the designed >space, of the principles denounced by Guy Debord in his book "La société du spactacle".
The emplacement of the platform under the Bridge of Sighs, allows the visitor to be part of one of the most popular frame of Venice, and offers a perspective in each of the two directions, that only can look at the flows of tourists.
As in a mirror, the spectator see himself reflected on the tourist flows at the same that he reflects the same image back, in order to take conscience of his own position, socialy and spatialy aliened (as a mass tourist). The spectacle here, is only the revelation of the protagonists and the decor that already exist.
"The individual who in the service of the spectacle is placed in stardom's spotlight is in fact the opposite of an individual, and as clearly the enemy of the individual in himself as of the individual in others. In entering the spectacle as a model to be identified with, he renounces all autonomy in order himself to identify with the general law of obedience to the course of things." Guy Debord, The society of the spectacle
